CYO Track Season Continues with Challenging Events

The photo above is of a recent 7th grade boys 100 meter race at a preliminary meet in Mission Valley Track Section 3, with three of their fastest runners! According to coach Frank Knafelc, "They finished the 100 meter within a tenth of a tenth of a second of each other. The Holy Spirit runner (Red) won the race by sticking his chest out.  The Saint Joseph runner (Yellow) placed second and the Saint Anne runner (Yellow and Black) was third.  The picture was taken around 10 meters from the finish. What a race!"

The 2016 CYO Track season will be concluding with the three CYO track sections each hosting Qualifying Meets to qualify runners to compete in the annual Oakland Diocese Track and Field Championship Meet on May 6 and 7.

Applications are being Accepted for the Marty Mart CYO Scholarship for 2015-2016

Each year, the Oakland Diocese CYO awards a scholarship, the Marty Mart Scholarship, to an outstanding 8th grade CYO player.  The award is named in honor of Marty Mart, longtime CYO associate director.  The scholarship is funded entirely by private donations and is open to any 8th grade player who paricipated in CYO during the 2015-2016 school year. (Another scholarship was previously awarded for 2015-2016 Girls' CYO Volleyball.)
