49th International Eucharistic Congress
Dear Friends:
It is with great joy and anticipation that I invite you to join us on this Spiritual Pilgrimage to Quebec City, Canada for the 49th International Eucharistic Congress. The Eucharist is the most precious treasure Christ has left to the Church. Our Pilgrimage will be an opportunity to deepen our devotion to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and unite in prayer with Catholics from throughout the world.
I hope you can join me on this unique journey.
The Most Reverend Allen H. Vigneron
Bishop of Oakland
To: Friends of the Most Holy Eucharist From: Ralph Desimone, Moderator Confraternity of Eucharistic Devotion
Welcome to our information source for the 49th International Eucharistic Congress
in Quebec, Canada, June 15-22, 2008. The
Confraternity of Eucharistic Devotion (CEDDO) has been commissioned to promote this event and invites your participation in it.
Thank you for your interest in the Congress in beautiful, historic Quebec. Hopefully the following information will serve to deepen your interest and to provide useful information for participating in the Congress. It is our hope that the leadership in our parishes will bring this opportunity to the attention of their people, so that the bountiful fruits it will offer will be available to all their parishioners.
International Eucharistic Congresses are held in various locations
only every four years, the last having been held in Guadalajara,
Mexico in 2004. The 49th International Eucharistic Congress will
take place June 15-22, 2008 in Quebec City, Canada, and offers a premier opportunity to experience the Church from
six continents gathered in prayer, reflection and action. The
Congress will also form the cornerstone of the diverse festivities surrounding the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, the cradle of the Church in North America.
Those working in our diocese to publicize this event have sought to enhance opportunities for participation from as many as possible in our parishes. As an alternative for those who wish to make independent arrangements, a diocesan pilgrimage tour with Bishop Vigneron is available on a very limited basis. Please see the
Pilgrimage Tour Brochure for specifics. A handy
Tour Flyer is also available to help you spread the word.
If you are interested in attending this International Eucharistic Congress, please take a moment to go over the options below. For particulars on the Congress itself, please see the
