NET MINISTRIES – Are you looking for an awesome way to inspire your teens?  Consider having NET (National Evangelization Team) lead a one or two day event for your Jr. High or High school teens. If you have not heard of NET see their website at www.netministries.org. Last month, two parishes in our diocese hosted NET and both want them to return.  Please contact me ASAP if you have any questions about NET since I am trying to schedule their return in Fall 2013 and /or Spring 2014.  They are AMAZING and INSPIRING!!!

IGNITE Update – IGNITE will take place every other year rather than annually starting next year.  Therefore, the next IGNITE will occur in 2015. In the alternate years, the plan is to have Jr. High events in each county.  This will give all the youth an opportunity to participate in a diocesan event.  ON FIRE at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will continue to happen annually.  I seek and welcome any assistance / input you might offer in planning the Jr. High events in 2014 and IGNITE 2015.

YDisciple has a new weekly blog for youth ministry leaders.  Click here to check it out.

Bay Area Catholic Radio Program.  I think it is so important to spotlight our young people who are making a difference in the Bay Area. If you know of any young people who are doing even the smallest things to change lives and make the world a better place, please contact me so I can talk with them about the possibility of featuring their stories on Bay Area Catholic on Immaculate Heart Radio 1260AM.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can assist you in any way! I continue to pray for you daily!

In joyful service of the Lord,
Patti Collyer

Our Mission

The Diocese of Oakland Youth Ministry Office supports the faith journey of our young people by promoting a comprehensive approach to youth ministry. Our goal is to support and equip those who serve in youth ministry with the tools and resources to create life changing Christo-centric formation in order to prepare our youth to live out Christ's call to discipleship.

We do this by:

  • Offering ongoing catechetical and enrichment opportunities
  • Providing resources, tools, and ongoing support
  • Providing ongoing communication about youth ministry matters
  • Coordinating Diocesan Youth Events in cooperation with youth ministry leaders

We support and encourage the comprehensive approach to youth ministry as outlined in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Effective Ministry with Youth by the U.S., Conference of Catholic Bishops
