Resources for Children and Youth

To begin any discussion about stewardship, one should read the U.S. Catholic Bishops pastoral letter on stewardship entitled: Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response.”
In this letter the Bishops described a Christian steward as one who:

·    Receives God’s gifts gratefully
·    Cherishes and tends them responsibly
·    Shares them in justice and love
·    Returns them to God.

Stewardship is not just for adults.  We have a responsibility to teach our young that God has given us many blessings.  We want to show our children how to share the gifts that God has given them with grace, generosity, and gratitude.  We want to instill in their hearts a love of giving.  We are all blessed by God and in turn want to bless God by using the gifts that we have been given to further God’s kingdom. We want our children to understand that stewardship is a lifelong, ongoing process. Whenever we use our time, talent or treasure, we ARE making a stewardship decision.

This is a huge responsibility.  Luckily, there are a lot of excellent resources to get your children’s stewardship program started.   We have listed some of the resources that we have discovered below.  This is not an exhaustive list.  We welcome your input and additions to the resources.

In addition to stand-by's like the International Stewardship Council and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, you may want to check the following websites for information and material.
