Child Abuse Prevention Month
During this Month of April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, The Diocese of Oakland wants to reiterate that it remains committed to ongoing training in Recognizing and Reporting child abuse; and to background screening all who volunteer or are employeed here. The risk of child abuse is greatly reduced by breaking the silence about abuse, especially sexual abuse. Breaking the silence is a critical first step to begin the process of education, prevention and healing.
We remain committed to helping survivors and their families heal and find peace. If you believe you or someone you know is a victim of sexual abuse by a church employee or volunteer, please contact our Victims Assistance Office (510)267-8373.
