The beauty of the liturgy is part of this mystery; it is a sublime expression of God's glory and, in a certain sense, a glimpse of heaven on earth. POST-SYNODAL APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION SACRAMENTUM CARITATIS"

About Youth and Young Adult Ministry

The Diocese of Oakland endorses the Total Youth Ministry concept as defined in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry from the United States Catholic Conference of Catholic Bishops. We encourage all youth ministers of the Diocese of Oakland to foster the conversion of youth and young adults as part of John Paul II's New Evangelization. The New Evangelization is focused on the person of Christ; it is the responsibility of the entire People of God; it is directed at individuals and whole cultures and calls for a missionary spirituality. In terms of youth and young adult ministry, all programs should seek to build Christ-centered youth ministry that empowers young people to take responsibility for evangelizing their families and friends, and should focus on each individuals so they can personally encounter Christ. Youth and young adult ministry must penetrate the culture of noise and help our young people develop a bold spirituality that will build the Kingdom of God right here in the Diocese of Oakland.
