Scouts, Leaders and Scout Families Attend
2013 Diocesan "Celebration of Scouting!"
Scouts, leaders and their families attended the annual Oakland Diocese "Celebration of Scouting" on Saturday, February 2, at the Cathedral of Christ the Light. Over ninety scouts received their religious award medals. Father Kenneth Nobega, diocesan scout chaplain, presided at the prayer service with the theme, "Building on Our Faith in Jesus Christ!"
The St. George Award was presented to scout leader Michael Warriner for distinguished service to Catholic Scouts. Mr. Warriner is active as a scout leader and commissioner, actively promotes religious awards and is an active member of Christ the King parish, Pleasant Hill.

What is the Celebration of Scouting?
The annual "Celebration of Scouting" is a prayer service honoring all scouts and their leaders in the Oakland Diocese. Religious awards earned during the year are presented at the Celebration. Scout groups are invited to process into the Cathedral with their banner or flag.
