Dear Faithful of the Diocese of Oakland,
Deacon Timothy Moore has been faithfully guiding the Office of Permanent Deacons for the Diocese for the past eight years. He will be stepping down following the Ordination of our new Permanent Deacons on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The whole diocese is indebted to Deacon Tim for his fine service and loyalty to Christ and the Church. We will have the opportunity to honor Deacon Tim at the end of Saturday’s Ordination Mass.
I am appointing Father Jimmy Macalinao to be the new Director of the Office of Deacon Formation and Permanent Deaconate. Fr. Jimmy knows our deacon community well, having himself studied and been ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese in 2013. He later entered seminary and was ordained a priest in 2018. He previously served as Director of the Diocesan Office of Faith Formation and Evangelization. He will remain Administrator of St. Perpetua’s Lafayette. For any deacon-related matters, he may be contacted at JMacalinao@oakdiocese.org.
I am grateful to Deacon Tim and Father Jimmy for their generosity and gracious service to our Diocese.
With the assurance of my prayers and blessing,
The Most Reverend Michael C. Barber, S.J.
Bishop of Oakland
