Las Posadas, a ceremonial reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, has been celebrated annually at Old Mission San Jose since 1982. For nine days, from December 15th to the 23rd, at 6:00 p.m. we process to a location, a short walk from the Mission, with a beautiful hand-carved statue of the Holy Family all the while singing Christmas carols. The Cathedral of Christ the Light invites you to come and join us on Thursday, December 21st at 5.30 pm for “Blue Christmas: A Service of Reflection for the Longest Night” On this Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, we acknowledge through quiet music, prayer, and scripture, that God’s presence and loving Spirit is for those who mourn and those who struggle, and that even in great darkness there can be light. Everyone is welcome to this brief service, regardless of religious background (or lack of it).
