Our mission
In communion and with the support of the Bishop of Oakland, the Mission of the Department of Latino Ministries
is to LIVE AND PROMOTE, through the Pastoral de Conjunto, a MODEL OF CHURCH that is community-based, evangelizing and missionary, embodied in the reality of the Hispanic people and open to the diversity of cultures, promoter and example of justice, that develops leadership through comprehensive education and is a "ferment" of God in society.
Goals
- Encourage and accompany the Latino Pastoral Process, taking as reference the Pastoral Plan of the Diocese (2008-2013) and the National Plan for Hispanic Ministry
- Create spaces for meeting and dialogue where necessary and possible
- Encourage the development and enrichment of pastoral services to parishes with services in Spanish
- Coordinate support and preparation of diocesan offices that offer pastoral services in Spanish
Apostolic Movements
our lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage
“We are a group of people who meet throughout the year to coordinate the Guadalupe Diocesan Pilgrimage. Planning consists of meeting monthly and sharing our gifts and talents. The group is made up of small working groups that make the Pilgrimage possible.
Through the diocesan activities organized by this group, diocesan communities are invited to participate in the Pilgrimage. These activities help us raise funds for expenses. We invite communities to participate by organizing floats, dances, and music, among other activities. The Pilgrimage culminates with a liturgical celebration, where people from all over the diocese gather.”
