A Space to use for focus, dialogue, gatherings, or retreat...

  • Sometimes, we just need to take our meeting to another location.
  • Maybe the meeting requires a space that is separated from everyday distractions.
  • Maybe it’s a staff retreat, board retreat, planning session or a focus group session.

Whatever the situation...

St. Joseph’s Center is here to help satisfy your meeting needs.

Our facilities are available for meetings, retreats, receptions, parties, workshops, exhibits, socials, prayer groups and other rentals.

  • St. Joseph’s Center is located in the beautiful Hayward Hills adjacent to CSUH (Cal. State Univ. Hayward).
  • It accommodates all travelers with easy access from Freeways 880 and 580, as well as Public Transportation Routes from BART and AC Transit. (AC Transit Bus 60 stops at the northwest corner of Campus Dr and Highland Blvd  - 1 minute walk north on Campus Drive to SJCD).
  • Kitchen facilities available for light refreshments or meals.
  • The Hall capacity accommodates up to 128 people for assembly. There are approximately 90 chairs, 4 8' tables, 3 6' tables and 2 4' tables for use.
  • Fees are based upon the group function and the group capacity.

Reservation Procedures:

Applications must be submitted at least 30 days in advance and no more than 11 months in advance.

If your date is available, the building will be held for you for 3 business days. Within that 3-day period, you need to:

  • Complete all necessary paperwork
  • Pay a non-refundable $50.00 deposit
  • Any balance due must be paid in full 30 days prior to your event.
  • The non-refundable deposit will be applied to the reservation fee.

Meetings & Conferences

  • 50 group capacity or less = $50.00/hour
  • 51 group capacity or more = $75.00/hour
  • Refundable Security Deposit = $250.00 (refunded upon appraisal of facility following event)

Receptions (3 hour minimum)

  • Rental Fee (3 hours minimum) = $300.00
  • Each additional hour = $90.00
  • Refundable Security Deposit = $250.00 (refunded upon appraisal of facility following event)


  • All groups must provide Certificate of Insurance naming the Diocese of Oakland/St. Joseph's Center for the Deaf as additionally insured.
  • You may purchase insurance for the event when you apply.

*Special Rates may be available for non-profit agencies that require regular or on-going meetings.
