The passing of Fr. Thomas Lester, retired priest of the Diocese of Oakland

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Fr. Thomas Lester, retired priest of the Diocese of Oakland, who died Sunday evening.

Bishop Barber shares "Fr. Tom Lester served the Church as a Redemptorist for thirty years, and as a priest of the Diocese of Oakland for forty years.  A few weeks ago I was able to visit with him, administer the Anointing of the Sick, and thank him personally for his loving service to the people of our diocese. May the Good Lord grant him light, happiness, and peace.”

The Funeral Mass is on Wednesday, August 19, outside, at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Hayward. Attendance is limited.
