Over the past several months the Cathedral Board of Directors has continued to monitor the outstanding construction issues in the Chancery building, Rectory, parking garage, and Event Center. Additionally, the independent consultants engaged by the Board have worked diligently and in conjunction with the Diocese’s legal counsel to evaluate the various waterproofing, structural, and other issues affecting these areas.
As part of the Board’s commitment to ensuring the safety of our employees, visitors and parishioners, modifications to various doors throughout the Chancery, Rectory, parking garage, and Event Center and repairs to the sprinkler systems in the parking garage were recently completed.
Additionally, parking for weekday visitors and daily Mass attendees is limited to the B2 level of the Cathedral Center parking garage. Employee, weekend Mass and special event parking has been moved to the Kaiser Center parking garage on the other side of 21st Street from the Cathedral Center garage entrance.
The same $5 flat rate for Diocesan special event parking at the Cathedral Center garage is available at the Kaiser Center garage. As a reminder, special event parkers need to validate their Kaiser Center parking ticket during the event and give it to the parking attendant on the 1st floor level of the Kaiser garage before exiting.
As more information becomes available, I will keep you informed with additional updates. If you have further questions, please contact Teresa Pena or Janaan Garcia (see above) and they will be able to redirect questions to the most qualified person.
For the March 16 Chrism Mass, the B2 level of the Cathedral Center garage will be open for parking until it is full. Additional parking will be available at the Kaiser Center garage. Before exiting the Kaiser Center garage, parkers need to take their parking ticket to the booth on Level A of the Kaiser Center garage and it will be validated by the parking attendant.
