The five week CYO Cross Country season concluded with the Oakland Diocese CYO Cross Country Championship Meet with over 800 runners from 32 parishes and Catholic schools participating. The final meet was on Friday, October 21 at Crown Beach in Alameda.
This year's CYO Cross Country season featured five meets in local parks on Friday afternoons in September and October. Local parks that hosted meets were Crown Beach, Alameda; Joaquin Miller Park, Oakland; Oak Hill Park, Danville; Quarry Lakes, Fremont' and Shadow Cliffs, Livermore.
Over 1000 runners participated during the season that featured races for Kindergarten through 8th grade, girls and boys. Each meet began with a prayer by all runners and families. With meets on Friday afternoons, families began their weekends at a meet, often with dinner out (pizza!) or picnics at the parks.
CYO Cross Country was the first sport for CYO after the pandemic and grew again this year.
