Death of Bishop Emeritus Patrick J. McGrath

“It is with profound regret I learned this morning of the passing of the Most Rev. Patrick J. McGrath, emeritus bishop of San Jose and priest of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.  I extend our prayers and sympathy to Bishop Oscar Cantú and the priests and people of the Diocese of San Jose. I ask all our priests  to pray for Bishop McGrath by name in the Prayer of the Faithful this coming weekend.  Bishop McGrath was a good friend of mine for 40 years, and we in Oakland will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace!”
