Parish Holidays 2026

The following holidays are the minimum required for parish employees:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 19)
  • Presidents’ Day (February 16)
  • Good Friday (April 3)
  • Memorial Day (May 25)
  • Independence Day (observed July 3)
  • Labor Day (September 7)
  • Veteran’s Day (November 11)
  • Thanksgiving (November 26)
  • Day after Thanksgiving (November 27)
  • Christmas Eve (December 24)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)
  • New Year’s Eve (December 31)

Because of the religious nature of the day, parish offices are closed from at least noon on Good Friday (April 3).

When a federal holiday falls on a weekend, the holiday observance will be moved to either the Friday preceding the holiday (if the holiday falls on a Saturday) or the Monday following the holiday (if the holiday falls on a Sunday).

Observance of the minimum holidays is not transferable to a different date without incurring double time pay for non-exempt employees.

Please contact the Department of Human Resources with any questions at 510-2678359.
